A winch does what a hoist cannot: long-distance pulls, controlled positioning, and load handling where the rope runs hundreds of metres rather than tens. The LOADMATE Electric Wire Rope Winch is built for exactly that duty — heavy, continuous, and often outdoors.
Capacities reach 250 tonnes with rope lengths to 2000 metres. Grooved drums give smooth single-layer winding and extended rope life; double-brake arrangements add a second layer of safety on critical lifts. Drum size, rope specification, speed, braking and control philosophy are all engineered to the application.

What is the difference between an electric winch and an electric hoist?
A hoist lifts vertically on a fixed reeving with a limited height of lift. A winch is built around a rope drum for long pulls — it can lift, pull horizontally or position, with rope lengths to 2000 metres. Where the rope runs hundreds of metres, or the pull is not straight down, the winch is the correct machine.
What capacity can a LOADMATE winch reach?
Up to 250 tonnes. Capacity, rope length, drum size and speed are engineered together, so send us the pull and the distance in the same enquiry.
What is a grooved drum and why does it matter?
A grooved drum has machined helical grooves that seat each rope wrap in its own channel. The rope winds in a single even layer without crossing over itself, which prevents the crushing and abrasion that shorten wire rope life fastest. On long rope lengths it is strongly recommended.
What is a take-up winch used for?
Maintaining tension in a conveyor belt arrangement. As the belt stretches in service the take-up winch pays out or hauls in to hold correct tension, keeping tracking and drive traction stable.
Can you supply a flameproof winch?
Yes — flameproof and explosion-proof executions are available for hazardous zones. Tell us the zone and gas group and we will specify the certified motor, brake and panel.
What is the typical lead time?
Standard configurations typically ship in 8 to 14 weeks from order confirmation. Engineered and special-purpose builds take longer, and we confirm a delivery date in writing at the time of order.
